This alternative country house venue peppers the classic country house style with an imaginative twist. Since 1742 it has been home to some of the most distinguished families from the area of Llangollen. An ancient site that dates back to 1345, it is believed to have been the home of Bishop John Trevor, who built the Llangollen Bridge in 1345. Much of the house as it stands today was reconstructed some time in the 18th Century.
Inside
- Style: Open the doors of a heritage-listed property adorned with quirky artefacts, pop memorabilia, lavish Regency and eccentric furnishings.
- Bedrooms: 2 superking double rooms, 3 doubles, 1 double or twin room and 1 twin. There is also the option forchildren to sleep in one of the rooms on a double or single futon (this is not included in the house capacity)
- Bathrooms: There is one en suite bedroom, 3 family bathrooms and 2 additional WCs.
- For relaxation: Kick back by the fire in the Regency drawing room; retire to the library with an after-dinner tipple; in-house holistic treatments can be pre-booked
- For recreation: Games/pool room and music room with baby grand piano; home cinema with surround-sound
- Practicalities: Stabling for 2 horses, a paddock and a floodlit arena. Utility room with washer and dryer.
Outside
As well as 65-acres of ancient woodlands and grounds, there is a formal garden containing a large pond and Victorian glasshouse.
Food and wine
- DIY: Available on a self-catered basis, the large kitchen has a breakfast table, Aga, huge fridge and pantry, whilst the medieval dining hall is a wonderful setting for glamorous dinner parties. Well equipped kitchen with all the basics supplied such as bin bags etc.
- In-house cuisine: A chef can be hired in to prepare anything from a light supper to a banquet. Dinner can be catered from £8 per head for a buffet or £20 per head for a 3-course sit down dinner (depending on menu chosen).
